From the Studio

My studio is a quiet place of exploration — where silk, water, pigment, and movement meet.

It is a space to slow down, to listen, and to let materials guide the process. Some days are full of colour and motion. Others are still, with cloth simply hanging in the light, waiting.

Here, Field Cloths are born through breath, touch, and time. Natural dyes and sustainable pigments are allowed to travel through fabric, shaped by gravity, the body, and the mood of the day.

Nothing is rushed. Nothing is forced.

Process

Each piece begins with listening — to the body, to the fabric, to what wants to move.

Movement becomes mark.

Water becomes pathway.

Pigment becomes breath.

Some works take shape through sweeping, embodied gestures of sustainable paint. Others are formed through the slow blooming of plant and mineral dyes, allowing colour to find its own way through silk.

Time, gravity, and touch are part of every piece.

The cloth is given space to rest, to shift, and to settle into its own quiet balance.

This is how a Field Cloth finds its form.

Material

I work with silk, cotton, natural fibres and found fabrics — chosen for their softness, strength, and ability to hold colour and memory.

My dyes come from plants and minerals, and I also use gentle, sustainable pigments that allow the fabric to remain alive and responsive. Water, light, and time are part of the process, shaping how colour settles and how each cloth finds its tone.

These materials are not simply tools.

They are collaborators.

Nothing is forced to look a certain way.

Everything is allowed to become what it needs to be.

In the Studio

This is a place of slowness and attention.

Silk rests in bowls of colour.

Cloth hangs in the light, drying and changing.

Pigment moves through water, finding its own paths.

Sometimes I work with my whole body — walking, lifting, and painting with fabric across the floor and walls. Other times, I sit quietly with a small piece of silk, watching colour spread and soften.

There is space here for both movement and stillness.

Every Field Cloth carries traces of this time —

the gestures, the pauses, the quiet moments in between.
